This curriculum is primarily intended as an option for students who major in biology, chemistry, geology, mathematics, physics and technology. The basic prerequisites include one year of physics and chemistry, or permission from the instructor.
The program includes 20 semester hours of specialized coursework in materials. The capstone experience is a year-long research project in some aspect of materials science which includes active laboratory participation in conjunction with the student's major.
